VOC Removal Catalysts

Emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC) are a harmful by-product of a wide range of industrial processes. Shell Catalysts & Technologies’ VOC and carbon monoxide (CO) removal technology allows for the removal of these compounds via catalytic oxidation. Catalytic oxidation converts VOCs into gas containing commonly occurring carbon dioxide (CO2) and water.

VOC and CO removal – Benefits of catalytic oxidation versus thermal oxidation for lower-carbon and cleaner products

Through Shell Catalysts & Technologies’ revolutionary catalytic reduction process, businesses can produce lower-carbon and cleaner products. The use of our catalysts in the oxidation process and in the Lateral Flow Reactor (LFR) module configuration allows this reaction to take place at lower temperatures than thermal oxidation, saving fuel and operating costs.

Industries and applications benefiting from VOC oxidation catalysts and VOC removal catalysts

Ovens/Coatings

Pharmaceuticals

Soil Remediation

Food: Bakeries/Coffee Roasting

Refineries

Petrochemicals

CO₂ sequestration/capture

Boilers/turbines/furnaces

With the proper design and implementation, VOC conversions can be as high as 99.9%, well exceeding current US EPA requirements and other regulations worldwide.
