Energise the Future
Enhance performance, extend asset life and reduce costs with advanced transformer liquids
The power sector continues to face multiple, evolving challenges. Power network operators must meet growing demand while making the most of ageing infrastructure and managing the complexity of an energy generation process that is becoming more diversified and more decentralised.
Shell has been advancing the development of transformer liquids for more than 80 years.1 We are here to help maximise the output, performance and reliability of your transformer equipment, existing and new, to meet the growing demand for power.
Shell's expanded portfolio of ester and gas-to-liquid transformer liquids helps industries and grids that can't afford to fail!
Benefits of Shell's advanced transformer liquid portfolio
Fire mitigation
Shell MIDEL's K class fluids3 have a high fire and flash point that improves safety, lowers risk from fire and reduces the cost of fire protection.4
Reduce environmental impact
Shell MIDEL ester fluids and Shell Diala S4 ZX-I and S5 BD are biodegradable, breaking down faster than conventional mineral oil and reducing environmental impact from spills or waste disposal.5
Cold temperature performance
Shell MIDEL 7131 and Shell Diala S4 ZX-I and S5 BD have very low pour points to support efficient operations in extremely cold environments.2
Extended asset life
Shell MIDEL offers excellent moisture tolerance, while Shell MIDEL 7131 boasts high oxidation stability. Shell Diala is virtually sulphur-free with high oxidation stability.2

Shell MIDEL - Ester transformer liquids
Greater fire safety, environmental protection, and longer asset life.2

Shell Diala - GTL (gas-to-liquid) transformer liquids
Offering enhanced protection, longer oil life and greater system efficiency.2
