SBP 100/140 high purity de-aromatised hydrocarbon solvent
Shell chemicals companies are leading suppliers of SBP 100/140 - part of our de-aromatised, special boiling point (SBP) aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents range. These high purity fluids have stable compositions with fixed, narrow boiling ranges, making them especially suited to applications or industrial process conditions where a particular evaporation/drying performance is required.

Product overview
SBPs consist of paraffins and cycloparaffins in the C6-C10 range. Thanks to their simple composition, narrow boiling point solvents provide predictable and consistent evaporation behaviour that is important in many applications. Our SBPs also have very low total aromatics and benzene content, with virtually undetectable levels of polycyclic aromatics.
SBP 100/140 is a colourless fluid with a low odour. In the range of SBPs, it has a medium boiling range and a slower evaporation rate. Its ability to dissolve many organic compounds and evaporate easily means it is used as a solvent or diluent in a wide range of industrial and professional applications.
Key application areas include adhesives, industrial cleaning, aerosol carriers, paints and coatings, inks, rubber manufacturing, catalyst preparation and the metal, paper and leather processing industries.
Shell Chemicals SBP 100/140 is manufactured to high standards required to produce a hydrocarbon fluid that offers consistent quality and performance, including feed selection and a deep hydrogenation process that minimises impurities.
The n-Hexane content of our SBP 100/140 is also very low and consistent, reducing occupational exposure and simplifying control measures.
