Machteld de Haan Executive Vice President, Shell Chemicals and Products

Machteld de Haan leads Shell鈥檚 Chemicals and Products organisation, which includes Shell鈥檚 chemicals and refining assets with their marketing network. Appointed on July 1, 2023, Machteld was previously Executive Vice President, Shell Global Lubricants, a business she had led since 2022. With a Shell career spanning 25 years, Machteld has worked in and managed several businesses in the Downstream including Mobility, Fleet, Sectors and Lubricants across Europe and the Americas.

Sean Clarry, SVP Chemical Sector, Marketing and Transformation

Sean leads the Chemical and Products' global marketing team, which is spearheading the business's focus on sustainable and circular customer solutions. Sean, who has been with Shell for more than 20 years, has worked in a variety of commercial and M&A roles and most recently led the business management team for Shell's US Gulf Coast Chemicals and Products business. 

Marco Richrath, SVP North West Europe

Marco leads Shell's Chemicals & Products business in Europe, which includes its three refining and chemicals assets in the region, two in The Netherlands, Energy and Chemicals Park Rotterdam and Shell Chemicals Park Moerdijk and one in Germany, Energy and Chemicals Park Rheinland. Before his current role, Marco was GM for Shell's Energy and Chemicals Park Rheinland Germany's largest refinery and served at the forefront of its transformation, including the start-up of the Refhyne I Hydrogen Electrolyser in July 2021. Marco joined Shell in 2005 and has held a variety of leadership positions across chemicals and refining. 

Aw Kah Peng, SVP Global Chemical Ventures & Chairman Shell Companies in Singapore

Kah Peng has been the Chairman of Shell Companies in Singapore since January 2019. Since April 1, 2024, Kah Peng has also taken on the additional role of Senior Vice President Global Chemical Ventures, which includes oversight of the CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Co Ltd JV (CSPCL), Infineum and Shell鈥檚 Singapore JV鈥檚 PCS Pte Ltd (PCS), and The Polyolefin Company (Singapore) Pte Ltd (TPC). Kah Peng joined Shell in 2012 as the General Manager for Global Commercial Strategy. She moved to the Chemicals business in 2014 and was in a number of global and regional roles.

Emma Lewis, SVP US Gulf Coast

Emma oversees Shell's Chemicals and Products in the US Gulf Coast region, which includes Shell's Norco, Deer Park, Convent and Geismar assets.

Shirley Yap, SVP Singapore

Shirley leads Shell鈥檚 Chemicals and Products business in Asia, which includes its two assets located in Singapore Pulau Bukom and Jurong Island. Her 26-year Shell career includes time as VP for Manufacturing in the U.S. and global roles in Supply Chain Management and Manufacturing鈥檚 Strategy & Portfolio team.

As well as operating a number of wholly-owned manufacturing facilities and marketing a broad range of base chemicals and intermediates through six product lines, Shell chemicals companies participate in a number of strategic joint ventures.

Our growth projects

We will invest in our existing world-scale plants, to further increase their capacity and efficiency. And we will pursue options to invest in the building of new large-scale plants.
